Ingredients
- 1 lb fettuccine
- 1 lb shrimp
- 1 cup parmesan
- One egg yolk
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3 tbsp butter
- Two cloves of garlic
- 2 tbsp flour
- 1 tbsp chopped parsley
- Kosher salt
- Ground black pepper
Instructions
Different shrimp dishes vary in difficulty of preparation, so we’ve separated all of the instructions into straightforward steps. This way, even amateur chefs will be able to follow the instructions and enjoy the food.
Step 1
Preparing Fettucine is as simple as it comes. The first step is all about cooking the pasta. Follow the instructions on the box, and you’ll be done in no time.
Keep a cup of pasta water in case you need to thicken the sauce.
Step 2
Get a large skillet and set it on medium heat. Once the skillet is warm, add one tablespoon of butter.
Let the butter melt, then add the shrimp. Season the shrimp and allow them to cook on each side.
They’ll need about 2 to 3 minutes for each side, and they’ll turn pink and opaque.
Once that happens, take the shrimp out of the skillet and set it aside.
Step 3
Add the remaining two tablespoons of butter into the skillet. Add the garlic to the butter.
After a minute on the stove, the garlic will start becoming fragrant. That’s your cue to whisk in the flour. After about 2 minutes, the flour will no longer be raw, and you can add and whisk in the heavy cream and the milk.
Next, you should whisk in the egg yolk.
Bring everything to a low simmer and start whisking in the parmesan. Once the cheese melt and everything combine into a sauce, you can add the pasta and the shrimp.
Make sure to toss the ingredients to be perfectly coated in the sauce.
Add salt and pepper, and garnish with parmesan and parsley to finish the composition and serve your first cooked shrimp dish.
Cheesy Shrimp and Grits
If you aren’t from the South, you most likely haven’t had this dish in your life. However, once you try it, you’ll want it all the time.
Bacon and cheese may not be the first item to drop your mind when you think about what to eat with shrimp, but give this meal a shot. You’ll see why Southerners love it so much.
Ingredients
- 1 lb shrimp
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup cheddar
- Six slices of bacon
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup corn grits
- Four Scallions
- Two cloves of garlic
- 4 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1/4 tsp paprika
- Kosher salt
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
Instructions
Step 1
We’ll start by bringing the chicken broth to a boil. We’ll season it with salt while this is happening.
Once the broth boils, reduce the heat to a low simmer and whisk in the grits. Keep the mixture to a simmer until the grits become very tender.
Stir often for the next 10 minutes to ensure the grits cook properly. After that time has passed, stir in the butter and the cheese, then season with salt and pepper.
Step 2
While the grits are being cooked, you can prepare the bacon. Use a large skillet to fry all of the pieces until crispy. This usually takes about 8 minutes.
Drain the bacon using a paper towel and keep about two tablespoons of melted fat in the skillet.
Step 3
Firstly, season the shrimp with oregano and paprika. Then, add them to the skillet.
Follow that with green onions and garlic and cook until the shrimp are fully cooked.
Then, stir in the lemon juice.
Step 4
Serve the shrimp over grits. And of course, don’t forget to top it with chopped bacon.
